It will be an eventful morning across the pond in the English Premier League, and we’re backing two of the league’s best teams to take care of business. Action begins at 6:30 Central Saturday morning, so be sure to lock in these bets tonight to wake up to some winners.
Tottenham vs Brighton: Tottenham Moneyline (-135)
Halfway through the season, Tottenham sits fifth on the table as Brighton sits eighth. The two teams last met in December as Brighton finished off a 4-2 victory at home.
We will see a Tottenham side at full strength, as James Madison looks to be healthy and Spurs Captain Heung Min Son returns from the Asian Cup. With Son’s return, Spurs center defensive midfielder Oliver Skip will likely not have a spot in the suited-up squad. Up top, Tottenham will have team of the week nominee Richarlison alongside the aforementioned Son and Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski… a combination fit for goals.
Tottenham is the most efficient team in the Premier League at converting their final third possessions to touches in the box, while Brighton is the worst at defending in this area. Brighton continues to play the same squad with no real emerging offensive threat, and without Japanese midfield star Mitoma there is nothing to get excited about in this squad. In addition, Brighton’s coach, De Zerbi, will not be serviceable for the match recovering from dental surgery.
We believe that although Tottenham lost the first of the two matches, a full and fit Spurs side should have no problem taking down a discombobulated Brighton this Saturday at 9:00 am Central. Tottenham is currently sitting at -135 on the moneyline, and it is a bet we are adding to our Saturday card.
Manchester City vs Everton: Man City -1.5 (-170), Kevin De Bruyne assist (+120)
In this matchup, we see a Manchester City team riding an 8-game win streak team take on an Everton Squad who is winless in their last 6. City is regarded as one of the powerhouses in European football, and we see no signs of an upset brewing in this game. It’s not a question of will Manchester City win, but rather by how much.
These two teams last met in late December. Jack Harrison started the game’s scoring to put Everton up 1 nil in the 29th minute, but from there it was all City. Man City had 66% of the possession and outshot Everton 23 to 7, with 15 coming from inside the box. Foden, Alvarez, and Bernardo Silva each scored to give Man City the 3-1 win.
This game was a small encapsulation of what Manchester City has been doing all season. In that game, Man City was without top-talent striker Erling Haaland and world-class midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. With these two coming into this game fit, there is no reason that Man City should not replicate a similar victory.
In this victory, we also believe there is great value for De Bruyne to extend his assist streak of the past two games. With Foden coming off of his hat trick against Brentford last game, the return of Haaland (who is still tied for the most goals in the Premier League), and having goal-scoring threats of Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, and Rodri around him, we see De Bruyne beginning to look like his old self. Look for him to conduct the offense from the center of the pitch and continue to distribute easy attacking passes to the assets he has around him.
This match will take place this Saturday at 6:30 am Central. The value is there for Manchester City -1.5 sitting at -170, and a De Bruyne assist has good value at +120. We will be taking both to start our Saturday off on a high note.
